We close in less than a week!!!

So we close in SIX days! I can't believe we are almost done with this process!! I'm also so excited to get into the new house finally!!  Everything is coming together and the end is in sight.

We went to the house last night and most of the interior finishes are just about done. It looks like a livable space with flooring and lights and carpeting and painted walls abd a hot water tank!!

The pictures don't even do justice to how beautiful it all is. Of course there are some minor things that we noticed such as bad patch jobs and some sub par finishing work, but our project manager has been amazing and I know he will take care of the last few things we have noticed... Maybe even before we bring them up at the pre settlement meeting on Monday.

Here are some photos of where things are... The cleaning people were in the house when we stopped by.

  4. Great blog! I really appreciate the great info. We are building a Dunkirk in Twinsburg, Ohio http://ryanhomesdunkirk.blogspot.com. Do you know the color paint they used in your house? I'm trying to figure out if our paint will be a stark white or an off-white. I know this varies by region. Many thanks!

    1. Hi matt!! Congrats on the Dunkirk!! We absolutely love this floor plan, especially now that we are moved in. Our paint is an off white. While damage shows on it very easily (since its only builder grade paint), it's much nicer than just all white everywhere.

  5. Gorgeous exterior!! Looks beautiful!! We are building a Ravenna Elevation M - cottage style. Trying to decide on exterior this week. Leaning towards Sandy Tan siding & Pebble Clay shaker with black shutters and maroon door. Still TBD on stone. I love the Graphite Grey too but we found out another house with our elevation is doing that color with stone and we didn't want to match. ;-)

  6. I love our exterior colors! Actually I love all of the selections that we made. The only change I think I would make would be to put more lights in the master bedroom. It's so big that one light just doesn't light the entire room. That's an easy enough job for an electrician though!

  7. Beautiful kitchen! Do you happen to know the dimensions of the island? Or at least what size cabinets were used? We finished building a Dunkirk. They have a new upgraded kitchen island you can get. We opted to stick with rather same L shaped kitchen you have. Unfortunately Ryan Homes would not do the island that you have, which really bothered me. We are having an outside contractor install an island almost exactly like yours. Eyeballing the island from pictures, I was going to start the island 6 feet from the stove. It seems to pretty much line up with the right hand side of the sink. I was going to have 5 ft of straight cabinets and then either 2-3 feet on an angle. I was going to have them extend the granite on the angled end so that I could fit a 3rd seat. Any input or information would be greatly appreciated. I have been searching the Internet for details on the island forever. Also, if you don't mind me asking, do you happen to remember how much extra the island costed? I just want to have something to compare to whatever estimates I get back. Thanks!!

    1. Thank you so much! I'll try to give as many measurements as possible. From our stove to the edge of the countertop is about 6 feet. From the sink to the counter top is 41". The straight part of the counter is 26" wide and 59" long. The hockey stick part of the island is 50" long and 36" wide (with an overhang that we have two stools at). On the straight part of the island we have a double door cabinet (33") and a single cabinet (18"). On the hockey stick part of the island we have 2 cabinets (each 21"). There are drawers above each of these. We also added outlets to both sides of the island. They charged us $3500 for this island which at the time was the same price as the standard gourmet island offered in the Dunkirk. We have all laminate countertops in our kitchen. Please let me know if you have any other questions! I'd love to help as much as possible. Good luck in the new house! We love our Dunkirk!

    2. Thanks for getting back to me! Do you guys have any issues with the placement of the island by the basement door? I was just wondering if it would be hard to get the basement door open when someone is sitting at the island.

    3. Also, could you please just measure how long your kitchen is from the end of the stove to the end of the countertop past the sink? Thanks!
